Beginning in 2020, Juniper Knoll Farm began operating as the first approved U.S. Pony Club in Vermont. We are very excited that the USPC has expanded their program to include new disciplines including Hunt Seat Equitation so that we can add this program as an option for our riders. Riders outside of Juniper Knoll are welcome to trailer in with their mounts to join our meet-ups and are not required to board or take regular lessons.
At the core of the USPC program are the "Ratings" which are a series of certification levels to aid horse people in becoming strong riders and horse managers. Ratings can be achieved from the D-Level (D1-D3), C-Level (C1-C3), to the national levels up to level A. Individuals can climb the ladder of levels in either the Horse Management vein or Riding. Horse Management levels must be completed prior to the next Riding level, however. For example, a member could be a C1 in HM and D3 in Riding, but not the reverse. When members participate in Rallies or clinics within Pony Club, they do so based on their current rating level.
While at Juniper Knoll Farm, there are various ways to participate in Pony Club and to work on their individual rating goals. After becoming a member of the USPC by submitting your membership form and national & regional fees to Becca, you can work towards the goals you set within the various programs offered. Goals related to USPC skills can be worked on during the Summer Pony Club Sessions or the Winter Horse Management Series (participation requires membership) or within their regular JKF programs like regular lessons. Members can participate in one or all of these options depending on the program you with to build for yourself. Riders at Juniper Knoll Farm are not required to be USPC members and are always welcome to participate in any of the non-Pony Club clinics, Riding Clubs, and field trips. While we will not be able to use the structure and goal setting that the USPC Ratings provide, we focus on building strong riders and good horse people in whatever manner you join us.
What you need to join USPC at Juniper Knoll Farm: Becca will send an online membership link sent to your email. You will also need a USPC D-Level Manual, a Pony Club Pin, and a Medical Armband. Pony Club sells a great starter kit with these items at a discounted rate.
(Open To Non-US Pony Club Members)
The Fall/Winter Horse Management series is offered as a 7 session series. We focus on important care topics and hands on horse skills that prepares our members to be solid horse people!
